The SkyWest Pilot Pathway and Tuition Reimbursement program allows qualified SUU students to complete their flight training with a clear pathway to a career as a SkyWest Airlines pilot. In addition to the $10, 000 of available tuition reimbursement, SUU students in the SkyWest Pilot Pathway Program will be mentored by SkyWest pilots, receive an enhanced introduction to SkyWest and enjoy enhanced seniority within their ground school upon becoming a SkyWest First Officer. Rotor Wing and Fixed Wing Training

Southern Utah University offers training in Rotor Wing Pilot (helicopter) or Fixed Wing Pilot (airplane) components. These tracks share a common core of general education and general aviation core courses. Our specialized flight labs, located at the Cedar City, Utah Airport (CDC), include state-of-the-art aircraft that will get you off the ground in no time.

Earn Pilot Licenses and Ratings

  • Private Pilot

  • Commercial Pilot
  • Certified Flight Instructor
  • Certified Flight Instructor Instrument

We offer helicopter and airplane courses in; Private Helicopter Pilot, Private Airplane Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Helicopter Pilot, Commercial Airplane Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor, and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument.

Additional Special Curriculum courses are offered in the following: Turbine Transition, External Load, Mountain Flying, Robinson R44 Transition, Robinson R22 Transition, SFAR 73 Transition, and both Single Engine and Multi Engine fixed wing training.

Degree Options

  • Applied Associate in Aviation
  • Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with Aviation component
  • Bachelor of General Studies with Aviation component
