Louisiana Tech Aviation in the News
Over a fifty year history, Louisiana Tech University's Department of Professional Aviation has established itself as a high-quality degree program with a national reputation for outstanding graduates. The department is a member of the University Aviation Association and is accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International. The Professional Aviation Department maintains the highest academic standards and keeps abreast of the latest in technologies and the needs of the aviation industry. Our links with industry are accomplished by internship programs with numerous major air carriers, regional airlines, corporate aviation, and government organizations as well as maintaining close contacts with our graduates. Moreover, we have aviation management cooperative agreements with the Louisiana Airport Managers Association and other Fixed Base Operators in the region. Louisiana Tech was the first school in the region to be certified to conduct flight training in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations under 14 CFR Part 141. We offer Bachelor of Science degrees in both Professional Aviation and Aviation Management. FAA certificates and ratings are available to Louisiana Tech students including the Private, Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor, and Certified Instrument Flight Instructor.
The University owns a fleet of 13 Cessna airplanes and conducts both ground and flight training year-round. Our academic aviation courses are taught in Davison Hall (DAVH) located at the main Tech campus. Flight operations are headquartered at the Ruston Regional Airport in the Louisiana Tech Flight Operations Building.
